About Oud/Agarwood
The Wood the World has always desired
Deep inside certain tropical trees, a wound triggers a remarkable response. The tree produces a dark, resinous heartwood as a defence.
It is harvested in small quantities. Its scent varies by species, geography, and age. Earthy, honeyed, smoky, floral, animalic. No two pieces are identical. This is why it has been traded along the Silk Road for over a thousand years, and why it remains one of the most sought-after natural materials in perfumery today.
Smoky wood — leather — rose — dark earth — honey & molasses — barnyard/feral musk — incense/frankincense — dried fruit — camphor/cool wood.
Agarwood/Oud is one of the rarest natural materials on earth. Formed over decades inside wounded trees, it carries a scent that no laboratory has ever truly replicated. Dark, complex, alive.
This wood, saturated with resin over years or decades, is what we call agarwood. Oud. Eaglewood. Jinko. It has many names.
At The Oud Trader, we source directly from growers and trusted suppliers across Southeast Asia and beyond. Every piece of wood, every vial of oil, is selected by hand. We believe you deserve to know and experience good oud.
Whether you are new to oud or have been burning it your whole life, you will find something worth your time here.
