Village pagoda right out the gate. That smell of a pagoda that's stood at the edge of town for generations, incense burning for decades has soaked into the stone. Dark resin, myrrh, sweet memories of childhood in south east Asia.

Quickly behind it, a subtle sweetness. Oak wood too, not fruity sweet, more like woody sweet, like the wood itself has a little sugar baked in. Aged rosewood settles in alongside.

Saddle leather comes through, worn in, the kind that's been sitting for years, not fresh from the tanner. Camphor lifts it, faint, medicinal. Just enough to clear your head, but not at all enough to sting.

This oud takes you to an old house by the riverside, stone steps in its garden worn smooth by centuries of bare feet. Damp cellar, old pebbles underneath, cold to the touch even in your imagination. It's got that feeling of returning somewhere after years away, a little unsure of what you'll find, and finding it exactly as it was.
